Our Projects and Work

Maintenance of the Wild Flower Meadow Spring 2023
We recently scarified the Wild Flower Meadow and will be sowing some more wild flowers shortly. The scarifiers remove all the thatch from the grass and disturb the soil. This allows the wild flowers to compete with the grass. Unfortunately, the Council have been unable to do the work for us for the last couple of years as their machinery broke. This has put the meadow's development back a couple of years. However, we are confident that we can now help the wild flowers take hold and gradually overcome the grass.
Replanting of the Area behind the rill on the Precinct.
Charlton Kings in Bloom was asked by the Parish Council to tidy up and replant part of the Precinct. We along with a number of other volunteers did this on Saturday 13th November, 2021.
This was a significant amount of work including site clearance, pruning, planting of shrubs and planting of many bulbs. It is credit to the hard work of everyone involved that the project was completed on the Saturday.
The Parish Council and CKiB hope that everyone will enjoy the extra colour and diversity of planting. It will of course take time for the new planting to develop fully.

Our British Wildflower Meadow Project

One of our long term projects is the development of a British Wildflower Meadow at The Beeches. The poject is being undertaken in partnership with Cheltenham Borough Council and will take a number of years to develop fully. Some progress should be seen every year.
The pictures above were taken during 2020. Below are the notes about the meadow and its development which are also displayed at the meadow.

Below are a few examples of other projects and work we carry out.
